      • May 2017 - May 2018

As an Engineering Intern at Kyocera International's Semiconductor Components Group, I worked on challenging projects related to the manufacturing of multilayered ceramic electronics packages. My responsibilities included: • Designing and executing engineering tests for various manufacturing processes. • Perform feasibility studies for future process capabilities. • Collect, analyze, and present data from tests and studies to management. • Develop and execute cost savings programs for manufacturing. • Develop programs for tooling and equipment maintenance. • Assisting production operators with troubleshooting of equipment. The technologies I work with include: • Die punching • Laser punching • Lamination • Printed Electronics (screen printing) • Automated Video Measurement Systems • Electron and Optical Microscopy Show less

    • Graduate Researcher
      • Sep 2016 - Present

I am currently part of a research group fabricating and testing composite materials of aluminum and carbon nanotubes. My responsibilities include: • Fabrication of composites via powder metallurgy techniques, specifically a novel process called spark-plasma extrusion. • Characterization of carbon nanotubes and composite samples with Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction, Electron Microscopy (SEM and TEM), Energy-Disperive X-ray Spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric Analysis, Hardness Testing, Wear Testing, and Tensile Testing. • Data analysis of characterization data in MATLAB, Excel, and various characterization-specific software (HighScore for XRD, OMNIC for Raman Spectroscopy, etc.). • Detailed documentation of experiment procedures and results. Results are analyzed and summarized and shared with the principle investigator and other collaborators. • Troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment. • Writing accompanying Monte Carlo simulations in MATLAB to model dispersion and inter-particle distance. Led a group of 6 mechanical engineering students in the design and analysis of a leading-edge wing flap actuator for a tactical aircraft. My contributions included: • Set meeting dates, reserved meeting rooms, and kept group files organized. • Set and tracked goals for the group on a weekly basis. • Performed stress analysis of lug system and checked for multiple modes of failure. • Helped design lug system based on analysis to best avoid failure. • Performed analysis of gear stress, based on guidelines set by the American Gear Manufacturing Association. • Assisted in the CAD drawing and FEA loads analysis in SolidWorks. Worked closely with the principal investigator to find a new dielectric material for a graphene based field effect transistor. The primary focuses were diamond-like carbon and boron nitride. Fabricated over 100 thin film samples of dielectrics using pulsed laser deposition of various targets onto silicon wafers under high vacuum and high substrate temperature. Performed qualitative and quantitative measurements of samples using electrical measurements, and visual assessment. Analyzed data from characteristic measurements using Matlab. Devised a set of standard operating procedures for the laser system. Wrote lab reports periodically for my PI. Compiled and edited a final report submitted to the department summarizing the efforts of our study. Performed troubleshooting and repairs on lab equipment. Ordered materials and equipment for lab work. Show less
