Managing Director at Cantec Group

Jun 2011 - Present
I have led the company through successive years of growth over the past 9 years from a turnover of €1.5m in 2011 to €5m in 2019.Over 25 years I have worked tirelessly to build a strong base of customers dominated by SMEs throughout Ireland, but also including some global multinationals such as GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Sun Life Assurance and Abtran, along with the key government contract of UCC, UL, LIT and the county councils of Tipperary and Westmeath. We have built a strong technical team who have great core skills and a complete customer centred attitude to support our clients. As a team we are loyal, dependable, trustworthy, resourceful and focused. We offer on-site consultancy, proposal deliverables, acceptance agreements, successful implementations and continuous private consultancy or support. Many companies do not realise the opportunities relating to document management and and automated workflow solutions, often spending huge amounts of time manually checking documents. our recent merger with SmartOffice Technology enables us to deploy our new suite of automated tools and processes to help them improve efficiency, productivity and profitability. Our customers learn very quickly that they can depend on us for the specific requirements they have - a small printer, a large managed print agreement or an automated software solution which makes their company far more efficient. We’d love to talk with you and share with you some of the solutions we’ve implemented successfully for our other clients.

Sales Director

Sep 2005 - Jun 2011
Cantec began offering managed print to customers in Waterford, a project spearheaded by me.We supported our customers through significant technological change as multifunctional printers became more integrated with network scanning solutions and moved from mono to colour.Under my leadership, Cantec in Waterford merged with Cantec in Limerick, which was situated 80 miles to the west. To coincide with my father’s retirement, I was named Managing Director of the new entity which is known as Cantec Ireland.

1995 - 2005
In 1995 after leaving college, I moved to Waterford to work for my parents fledgling Canon photocopier dealership which they had established a year earlier. My primary initial roles were junior sales and deliveries. I learned my trade as a salesman under the tutelage of my father who worked for years in Canon as a sales manager. I gradually built my way up to being made sales director in 2005. During these years the company successfully handled the technological transition from selling photocopiers and fax machines, to selling printers and scanners. In the last part of this period we started to sell multifunctional printers and upscaled ourselves dramatically in our networks.
