  Together with Roel Peijs I formed a Sofar Sounds team of volunteers in Maastricht. We organised secret, intimate concerts. Typically the gigs were nothing short of magic and people were taken out of the daily routines of hectic work and the overflow of online connections.   My fellow student Remco Heijnen and I were surprised at the internet hype that was going on in 1999, because we couldn't detect a lot of marketing value. Succesful internet companies seemed to be focusing on creating new, high-tech, expensive and over-the-top 'stuff'. We thought we could do better and founded Webstyling! in November 1999. We rented a room in a building owned by Maastricht University and (after a paint job and buying second hand furniture) called it our office. Webstyling! was a great experience for us. It was our learning centre for entrepreneurship, marketing, web design, web development. Eventually Webstyling! led to a higher level of professionalism: the founding of Nexwork. Show less
