  At Bement's English Language and American Culture camp, I worked with seventeen young ELL learners (aged 7 - 12) from Asia. I planned and taught thematic units for students of varying language levels, including elements of both American and local culture as well as grammar and vocabulary points. As a dorm parent, I watched over our students in their daily life on campus (housing, meals, studies) as well as accompanied them on cultural outings (theater, museums, etc).   In order to prepare students for the competitive engineering school entrance exams, I selected thematic current events articles. Students had thirty minutes to read and present a twenty-minute oral commentary on the subject, drawing both from the article and their personal knowledge of the subject. I also wrote and corrected French-to-English translation sentences relating to the themes.
