I had the pleasure of working with Steve as peers where he was in the capacity as a project manager responsible for the move of the 350-acre production facility segmented off to different locations and closure of the existing facility. My responsibility was to ensure assurance of supply from domestic and global sources to ensure enough builds before manufacturing lines were closed and re-opened so as not to affect customer orders. Both workstreams had leadership visibility at the highest levels in the client organization. Steve collaborated very tightly with my team and the client teams across all the locations to ensure that the sending and receiving locations were lock-tight in understanding the steps that needed to be taken, resulting in early risk detection. With his wisdom from manufacturing plants to an understanding of how certain delays could impact the overall time frame, he was able to project risk to timelines very early on and help conversations to mitigate or resolve at a quick pace. Steve led a 2-hour weekly governance meeting attended by different groups and varying leaders, providing a platform where risk was discussed and progress towards mitigation was measured. Those that came to work with Steve, gained respect for him very quickly, as Steve is patient, but to the point in delivering clear messages both vertically and horizontally. All the agreed upon project deliverables were met, onetime with a client vetted savings of over $ 4M, in addition to meeting the customer promise dates for the equipment at a >97% level. I enjoyed working with Steve and hope that our paths may cross again.

Steve was an effective leader of the Manufacturing and Warehouse efforts at Inventus, leading a number of lean enhancements, space and cost reductions, and quality and safety improvements during his tenure. He always offered sage advice and perspective on issues facing the organization and was a calming influence in the face of challenges. He was skilled at production planning to achieve P&L, throughput and on-time delivery targets; management of equipment, personnel, and logistical constraints; and the use of lean and quality techniques to improve Operation's performance. He was effective at communications and managing relationships with all levels of the organization. He was well respected by his peers and subordinates. Beyond his manufacturing and warehouse expertise, Steve demonstrated an amazingly broad set of knowledge on a wide range of subjects, including: chemistry, SMT, critical to quality aspects of welding/soldering/gluing processes, quality standards and practices, safety, training, and motivating the hourly staff. I enjoyed working with him and learned a lot.
