Kate Barrett
Selina was the intern you dream of— driven, enterprising, self-starting, detail-oriented, and smart. She walked in the door and started contributing to projects immediately. She would come to meetings fully engaged and asking important questions that helped the team align and better define the work. I felt confident in her and could trust her in whatever capacity she was needed (be it making a plan for an undefined project, facilitating UX research studies, running sessions with cross-functional stakeholders, mapping out a UX flowchart of user scenarios, or sketching ideas). I had to pinch myself at the caliber of work Selina delivered to the team! She doesn’t shy away from the hard and meaty work— she pushed herself in one particular ambiguous project to define the goals and outcome metrics, and find creative ways to understand users’ behaviors not only from a qualitative research / hypothetical perspective, but also by questioning and exploring ways to use quantitative metrics to reduce risk and ensure the success of the product solutions. Selina went the extra mile with her product design work— continuously talking and collaborating with a cross-functional set of stakeholders to ensure she wasn’t solving problems in a bubble. Selina is incredibly talented. I would highly recommend her in the capacity of user experience, user research, and experience design!

I first met Selina in early 2021 at a networking event and was impressed with her initiative, professionalism and attention to detail. I hired her shortly after to work for me as a student designer in the communications and marketing department at UC Davis. Selina was quick to show her tenacity and thoughtfulness, tackling projects I normally assign to more seasoned designers. I could always count on her to ask interesting questions and provide a fresh perspective. Selina’s work was always thorough and she would often go the extra mile for an assignment, especially when creating presentations for our clients. On top of that, Selina is a joy to work with–eager, positive and collaborative. As a team member or a leader, Selina earns my highest recommendation.
