In association with the University of Cape Town and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Magnet Theatre is developing a production of Sophocles' "Antigone" to explore the themes of tragedy and drama and its relationship to postcolonial, post-apartheid South Africa. My role in this exciting venture is an on-site research assistant, specializing in the classical themes of Antigone. It also an incredible learning experience for me, as I have taken this time to thoroughly study the relationship between Greek tragedy, Africa, and colonialism. "Antigone (not quite/quiet)" premiered at the Baxter Theater in Cape Town in September 2019. Show less
