BLDGS is a research-driven firm with a culture of inventive design and academic discourse. During my tenure we were recognized with the Architecture League of New York’s Emerging Voices award, the AIA Georgia Firm of the Year award, and the AIA Atlanta Silver Medal given annually to the city’s top firm.Tackled a variety of project-types including institutional, higher-education, lab spaces, arts & culture, commercial, and single-family. Clients include Georgia Tech, the Woodruff Arts Center, Steelcase, Bloomberg, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and Newport / South Downtown.As the firm’s most senior employee, collaborated directly with the founding partners in all aspects of practice, from RFP to contract to punch-list. Privileged to manage talented design-teams, and work with gifted collaborators, steering projects towards successful outcomes for our clients.Since 2020, focused on our work on South Downtown Atlanta, where a German developer has purchased 48 historic buildings, and four acres of undeveloped parking lots for a transformation of a core neighborhood of the city. Led the team focused on 222 Mitchell Street, a full city block comprised of historic high-rises destined for mixed-use office, retail, and restaurant tenants. Leveraged a wide team of experts and designers to navigate a large and complex project, which is nearing successful completion.222 Mitchell has been written up by Axios and the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Served as project manager for the Interdisciplinary Design Commons at Georgia Tech, the largest electronics-focused higher-education makerspace in the us. For three years, ferried the project from competition entry to construction closeout. Engaged a multitude of stakeholders at GT and leveraged BIM expertise to interface with 5d cost-estimating teams. Produced a complex and comprehensive set of drawings and specifications for construction and served as the primary reviewer of shop drawings and submittals during construction administration.IDC was featured in Metropolis magazine and space magazine and received awards from AIA Georgia. Constructed a LEED Platinum home, from the ground up, working with ten other students in close association with Brad Pitt’s Make it Right project, in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans. Worked full-time, learning SIP construction and conventional framing through first-hand experience, simultaneously compiling a master-set of drawings for URBANbuild Prototype #5.
