In this role I lead the union’s African American outreach and engagement portfolio identifying, establishing, engaging, and coordinating strategic partnerships in support of public education through both a racial and social justice lens. Serve as a liaison to both develop new and expand historic alliances with civil rights, labor, and other community-based leaders/organizations whose mission are to serve marginalized communities. Also, through established national relationships, I provide technical assistance to NEA state/local affiliates to organize and build sustained relationships in the communities they represent. This supports the implementation of community organizing plans that have a direct impact on NEA’s members at the state/local level.
