I spent several weeks training and mentoring Andriy Stelmashchuk, via the IBM/CBRE and City Gateway course. He regularly demonstrated a range of characteristics and qualities that are very important to future employers. Firstly he's thoughtful, and can think laterally about problem solving the challenges he's provided. Secondly he's very committed to his work and developing his skill sets, and can be relied upon to complete tasks to the best of his ability, while continuously improving his approach. Thirdly, he's enthusiastic and ambitious, and with the right opportunity will prove himself to be a valuable employee. Overall Andriy impressed/suprised me a number of times and though he's just starting out, I'm pleased to say he has plenty of potential and should aim high.

Participated in an IBM managed business skills training scheme, working across two different areas of IBM’s business. The main role was working with reprographics teams, where I helped co-ordinate production of business documents and printed material for IBM clients. This role including shadowing of facilities and reprographics staff, helping to co-ordinate production schedules, and managing post-room distribution and sorting. It also improved my use of email and meeting systems, as well as raising awareness of Health & Safety at work. The second part of the training scheme was working very closely with Senior IBM IT Consultants, who developed my knowledge of IT software, typical IT roles such as technical analysts, graphics designers and project managers, and performing research and proposals for simulated real world consultancy challenges. These included developing wireframes for a mobile app, taking minutes for technical calls, and performing research on peer-to-peer networks. This experience helped to improve my understanding of client services and professional documentation.

The most interesting part of my role was contacting potential clients to create new accounts. This involved discussions on the different types of accounts available, and their benefits. More regularly I had the task of completing daily health and safety checks for all employees at the company. Additionally, I collected and delivered mail to all departments, booked rooms for meetings, conferences and interviews, and answered phones in reception. Lastly, I worked with the security team to monitor reception and building access cameras.

I worked as a Shop Assistant. My role was to stack food on shelves and serve drinks and sandwiches to customers. I also cleaned the premises and completed security checks at the end of the day. Occasionally, I operated the till. This part time job gave me experience in Customer Services as I met and served different types of people every day. I worked as a Shop Assistant.
