I am working on the "Logistics Optimization in Mobile Aid Provision to En Route Refugees" TÜBİTAK 1001 project. The project focuses on aiding en-route refugee groups on their journey to cross borders using mobile facilities and tries to decide the number and routes of the facilities. The project's problem is locating the facilities in each period to minimize the mobile facilities' total setup and travel costs while ensuring the service requirement of refugees. We formulated a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model and developed an adaptive large neighborhood search algorithm (ALNS) to solve this problem. We needed a real-life instance to test the computational performance of the MILP and the metaheuristic algorithm. Hence, I developed an agent-based model to predict the main migration paths of refugees from Syria to Turkey. Show less

In the first semester of my master's degree (Fall 2020), I assisted Professor Sibel Salman, who is also my thesis advisor, in INDR363 "Mathematical Programming" course. I conducted the problem sessions of the course every week. In these sessions, I summarized the topics covered up to that week and solved questions about the current issue. Then, in Spring 2021, I worked as a teaching assistant to Ali Mete Özbek for INDR202 "Engineering Economics" course. In addition to routine tasks such as preparing weekly assignments and grading, I assisted instructor Mete in preparing students' exam questions during midterm/final periods. During Fall 2021, I assisted Sibel Salman in both INDR363 "Mathematical Programming" and INDR492 "Industrial Engineering Design" courses. In my last semester (Spring 2022), I served as an assistant in INDR492 "Industrial Engineering Design" course. I solved an assignment problem to assign senior design projects to students in line with their preferences and helped them with their projects.
