Zimbabwe Parks & Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks)

Leisure, Travel & Tourism

Overview

The Zimbabwe Parks & Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has a mandate to manage Zimbabwe’s wildlife resources, whether on private or communal lands, through an Act of Parliament known as the Parks and Wildlife Act of 1975. Mandated with the protection, management and administration of the wildlife of Zimbabwe, the Authority has had a proud history of sound management that endeavors to conserve the unique flora and fauna heritage of Zimbabwe. ZimParks conserves Zimbabwe's wildlife heritage through effective, efficient and sustainable utilization of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations and stakeholders. Conservation involves ecological research and monitoring with respect to the various wildlife species in the country. Conservation also involves deployment of anti poaching patrols to counter or defend our wildlife resources against any poaching activities. All the Parks estates provide visitors with opportunities for leisure and accommodation, with facilities such as lodges, chalets, cottages, caravan sites, camping sites and picnic areas together with some of the most beautiful scenic sites in the world. Conferences, weddings, picnics and other activities can be organized in many of the parks. Our National Parks offer visitors an unparalleled diversity of adventure tourism opportunities including game viewing, fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, scenic view, bush walks, canoeing and exposure to cultural and historical experiences.
