Tomas Muscionico is the founder of 'The Zero Initiative', a nonprofit consultancy, which operates at the intersection of Culture, Innovation, and Sustainability. Recently, he became an advisor to InstitutoTerra, a Brazilian-based NGO that has successfully restored over twenty-one hundred acres of the Atlantic rainforest. Tomas, a Swiss Alps native, earned a masters from the Schule für Gestaltung in Zürich before joining Contact Press Images in New York. Over two decades, he visited over fifty countries, documenting wars, political figures, and social impact stories. He photographed Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Nelson Mandela, and more, and covered conflicts in the Balkans, Chechnya, Haiti, the Middle East, Rwanda, Somalia, and South Africa. He also documented Native American teenagers in South Dakota, and the homeless in Washington, D.C His work has received international acclaim, including a World Press Photo award, Picture of the Year awards, and exhibitions at the United Nations, and is held in numerous private collections. He has been published in Time, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, GQ, DU Magazine, Paris Match, London Times, The Guardian, Geo, Vanity Fair, Atlantic Monthly, Al-Jazeera America, and many other publications around the world. After moving to the West Coast, he developed strong ties to Hollywood, working with A-listers like Muhammad Ali, Emily Blunt, Lady Gaga, Hugh Jackman, Julia Roberts, Kristen Stewart, and Steven Spielberg. He also collaborated with famous athletes and entertainers including, Mahershala Ali, Canelo Alvarez, Anthony Bourdain, Amelia Clarke, Brian Cranston, Peter Dinklage, Tina Fey, Joe, Ricky Gervais, Mel Gibson, Terrence Howard, Heidi Klum, Jeff Koons, Rami Malek, Tommy Lee, Aaron Paul, Salman Rushdie, Jerry Seinfeld, Mike Tyson, Mark Wahlberg and the Who. In 2023, he founded ‘The Zero Initiative’ to leverage his experience and contacts in tackling the biggest threat to our planet : Human-caused climate change!
