Overview

The ZaöRV is a peer-reviewed, open access journal published on a quarterly basis since 1929 by the Directors of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg. The journal aims at providing an international forum to discuss fundamental and current issues of public international law, comparative constitutional law, European Union law as well as the domestic law of the European Union’s Member States and selected non-Member States. Its ambition is to publish contributions by authors from all over the world covering a wide array of topics central to international law as well as different approaches to international law. The journal also features contributions on legal theory and legal philosophy in all areas of public law and public international law. Thereby, the journal aspires to reflect the discourse on public law’s international dimension in its diversity, fullness and richness. The journal’s English name is ‘Heidelberg Journal of International Law (HJIL)’.
