Overview

YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the award-winning national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland. YDance works through key partnerships in education, culture, health and sport, to provide a range of high-quality dance experiences across three main areas of work - Talent Development, Education and Participation. Our Talent Development projects include: The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland - the flagship contemporary dance company for Scotland's exceptional young dancers aged 16 - 21. The Project Y Performance Course - 4-week intensive dance performance course for ages 16 - 25. Destinations - the national youth dance performance platform for youth dance companies from across Scotland. Hothouse - a choreographic training programme for ages 14 - 21 designed to inspire and develop the next generation of choreographers. Our Education projects include: CLPL Courses for primary and secondary school teachers focusing on various areas of dance education including Higher Dance, National 5, cross-curricular learning and further developing skills. Workshops in schools. Shake It Up - a project using dance to teach a range of academic subjects to primary school children with the aim of raising attainment. Our Participation projects include: Horizons - our inclusive youth dance company for dancers aged 12 - 19, with and without disabilities. Me and You - creative and imaginative movement and play sessions for young parents and their children. YCreate - weekly creative dance classes for ages 1 - 8.
