Yuma County Water Users' Association

Overview

The Yuma County Water Users’ Association (Yuma, Arizona) was founded in 1903, just one year after the passing of the Reclamation Act, as a private non-profit corporation under the laws of the Territory of Arizona for the development and funding of the Valley Division of the Yuma Project. The Project is one of the oldest and most successful of Reclamation projects. Our landowners hold the most senior Colorado River water entitlements in the state. The Valley Division of the Project has some 53,450 irrigable acres in Arizona. Some 45,000 acres of prime farmland are currently farmed, producing annually over 80,000 crop acres due to year round multi cropping. The Association also delivers over 95% of the City of Yuma's water supply and will in the future also deliver Colorado River water to the cities of Somerton and San Luis.
