Overview
Nearly half a million Australians a year suffer from a chronic wound, at an annual cost to health and aged care budgets of $6.6 billion. Despite this, wounds remain a silent epidemic. The good news is, wounds can heal with the right treatment at the right time by a healthcare professional who is up to date with evidence-based best practice. Wounds Australia is the peak body for wound prevention, diagnosis, treatment and healing in Australia. We exist to reduce the harm caused by wounds through advocacy, education and research. Our members are the best professionals in the disciplines of nursing, medicine, pharmacy, podiatry and other allied health sciences, and academia and industry. We are a non-profit organisation and hold Deductible Gift Recipient Status. To donate, join or find more information, see our website: www.woundsaustralia.com.au. Our annual Wound Awareness Week takes place between 4-10 September in 2024.
