"I will tell you my daughter, of your worth - not your beauty..." - n.waheed Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, is to me, a field that affords the concentrated space to impact, treat, counsel and become an advocate for young girls who either cannot, will not, or are unsure about how to be or do these things for themselves. The complex spectrums of disorders of sexual development, fertility preservation in those undergoing treatment or surviving childhood cancers, precocious or delayed puberty, congenital reproductive development disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, painful menstrual cycles and endometriosis, sexual health education and healthy relationship building, etc... and of course the ever present and unrealistic societal pressures, can all make the already difficult teenage years, isolating, more confusing and difficult for young girls and young women. This field, gives me the opportunity to be a clarifying breath of fresh air and hope to families and young individuals dealing with complicated and sometimes mystifying diagnoses and situations during a recognized critical time in a young woman's life, through the implementation of evidence-based surgical and medical treatment, as well as through the emotive restoration and rebuilding of life quality. My goal, with, "With Love, Chimmy" is simple. Empower young women to take charge of and be confident in their reproductive, relational and sexual health, while also Educating and Encouraging the provision of a safe space for discussion, dialogue and growth.
