WickedHyper™ is an autonomous, high-speed, cargo transfer system that enables container ports to rapidly and efficiently move shipping containers between ships and intermodal terminals. Making use of HyperRail™ next-generation transportation, WickedHyper™ enables containers to be moved directly from ship-to-shore cranes to a spacious inland depot without ever touching the port ground itself. Because the WickedHyper™ footprint at the waterfront is less than 25% of that of conventional ports, the WickedHyper™ system frees up hundreds of acres at the waterfront that are currently occupied by myriad stacks of containers, including a significant number of empties, and space-eating rail yards. Potential sites for new port construction expand due to the fractional footprint required, making it possible to locate busy container ports away from urban waterfronts while transferring container storage to less-expensive, less-congested inland terminals. Because both WickedHyper™ and HyperRail™ are zero-emission systems powered by grid electric or hydrogen fuel cell technology, the environmental impact of replacing massive diesel truck and train traffic is immense and aligns with the sustainability efforts of the port industry worldwide.
