With over 20 years experience in healthcare as a Doctor, Surgeon and Entrepreneur, Dr Erica Whineray provides strategic solutions that are focussed on positive and equitable outcomes for all patients. Dr Erica Whineray is passionate about delivering equitable, efficient and financially-viable health care solutions for her clients. Erica has a MBChB from Otago University (1995) and a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery (2004) subspecialising in breast cancer. Erica has also trained in Health Strategy, Strategic Health Leadership and Healthcare Change Management through the Universities of Harvard, Cornell and Auckland. She is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand. Harnessing an astute commercial mindset, exceptional leadership skills and an innately positive approach, Erica has set up, developed and executed the development of two successful and innovative clinical practices, Auckland Breast Centre and Focus Radiotherapy, exiting the former to Private Equity in 2018. Erica also introduced and championed an innovative single dose radiotherapy treatment to New Zealand for breast cancer. As a clinician now focussed on equity, Erica has also undertaken further study at the University of Auckland in Māori Health, Te Kaa Cultural Competency programme and is a second year Te Reo student.
