Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (in short VU Amsterdam) has a clear ambition: to contribute to a better world through outstanding education and ground-breaking research. VU Amsterdam strives to be a university where personal education and societal involvement play a leading role. A university where people from different disciplines and backgrounds work together to innovate and generate new knowledge. Our research and education programmes span the entire spectrum of science, ranging from sciences to humanities, social sciences to medical sciences and from law to business economics. All disciplines interrelate within four different societal themes: the Connected World, Governance for Society, Human Health and Life Science and Science for Sustainability. The campus of VU Amsterdam is easily accessible and located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Zuidas, a high-profile international business district. Being the international brain and business port of the Netherlands, the Zuidas is a truly inspiring environment for teaching and research. Currently, over 4.600 employees work at VU Amsterdam and we host a population of more than 24,500 students.
