Overview
Our aim is to transform Maths and English teaching in Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania. Every year we send volunteer teachers to teach in some of the poorest rural and township schools for up to six weeks, using innovative teaching techniques to deliver high energy, inspirational Maths and English lessons. Our volunteers are selected through a rigorous and competitive recruitment process to ensure they are of exceptional quality. We then provide training to maximise their impact in the classroom. We want our impact to be lasting so we also train and mentor local teachers, encouraging them to pass their skills on to their colleagues. We run an intensive training programme here at Warwick University for outstanding African teachers and Masterclasses in Ghana and South Africa. In 2017, for the first time, we organised a Teacher Conference in Tanzania for our lead teachers to share and develop their knowledge and skills.
