Overview

The Association Veterinários Sem Fronteiras Portugal (VSF Portugal) is a Non-Profit Organization recognized by the ONGD platform and the Camões Institute. Founded in 2006, it has developed several actions and projects to promote the health of animals, people, and the environment in a sustainable way and in developing countries. The activity of VSF-Portugal is strongly based on the concept of One Health, particularly through the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, education and sensitization of populations to good human-animal relationships, and the carrying out of campaigns population control and also through the implementation of projects for the development of sustainable livestock production. In this sense, with a pattern of supporting official entities from different countries, protocols with local NGOs were identified, as well as institutional relationships, with the implementation of projects on the ground in collaboration with local authorities. Membership of VSF Portugal is allowed by those who share the Association's values and confirm the principles and objectives. They are mostly veterinarians and veterinary medicine students, but there is no limit to the membership of professionals from other areas.
