Overview
Voices Together offers a proprietary, evidence-based therapy – VOICSS® – developed by founder and CEO, Yasmine White. Research affirms that this therapeutic model enables significant improvement in social/emotional learning, communication, vocational training for young adults and self-advocacy in children, teens, and adults. The mission of Voices Together is to empower people on the Autism spectrum or who are otherwise neurodivergent to transform their own lives. White founded the nonprofit Voices Together in 2007 to make this unique therapy widely available, particularly to children and young adults who also experience economic disadvantage. A seven-member board of directors represents and advocates for our organization in the larger community. It serves as fiduciary of our organization and ensures that we advance our mission effectively. An 13-member Advisory Council provides valuable insights, support and expertise that inform the growth and development of our programs. In 2018, Voices Together was awarded a contract with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services through the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to children ages 14-21 to help them transition from school to work in the community. Our exponential growth over the last 15 years enables us now to serve over 1,300 students each year in 16 counties across North Carolina. We serve participants diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory processing disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other types of neurodivergence. Voices Together engages and trains only board-certified music therapists, trained in our model, to deliver this unique and evidence-based therapeutic service.
