Overview

More than 30 years ago VectorVision brought to the market the first self-calibrating vision testing instruments offering standardized contrast sensitivity, glare and ETDRS testing. The CSV-1000 testing protocol has become the world-wide standard for contrast sensitivity testing. The test is widely used for cataract evaluation and documentation, eye disease (e.g. macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy) diagnosis and tracking treatment and for measuring quality of vision in refractive surgery, new technology IOLs and athletes. In early 2000’s when the US FDA began requiring standardized contrast sensitivity testing for new optical devices, the CSV-1000 was adopted widely for these trials. Now 30 years later, there are more than 100 peer-review publications documenting the accuracy and sensitivity of the instrument and testing protocol, it has been used in more than 50 FDA clinical trials and VectorVision remains the only company with published and research-validated age population norms for contrast sensitivity testing. In 2020, we introduced the first all-in-one computerized vision testing system that brought the VectorVision standardization technology to the full range of vision tests used in normal clinical settings. The CSV-2000 incorporates a unique standardization technology, called AcQviz, which measures the computer monitor light level and then communicates with the computer to automatically adjust the light level to the recommended standard. The CSV-2000 offers the full range of vision tests, plus standardized contrast sensitivity and glare controlled by the computer and remote control. Importantly, the CSV-2000 provides the same testing protocol as the CSV-1000 for stimulus format, contrast levels and spatial frequencies, which brings the 30-years of CSV-1000 validation to the newest technology.
