Overview

Valérie’s Flutter Foundation is a local Ottawa not-for-profit organization that focuses on educating and raising awareness about common and rare cancers. They strive to help the community understand the disease and advance cancer research by raising funds through engaging events and selling of branded merchandise. Valérie Goneau was a 20-year-old engineering student who established the Valérie Flutter Foundation after she was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in 2010. Valérie spoke publically about her disease and her story. She was passionate about educating young people about the importance of cancer research, fulfilling their dreams and living a positive life. Unfortunately, Valérie passed away in June 2011 while the awareness for her foundation grew. The foundation raises funds by selling branded merchandise and by hosting fun, upbeat events. Their events range from annual galas, wine and cheese events, ball hockey tournaments, pub nights, hot yoga, and more. While offering hope, inspiration, as well as monetary contributions, the Valérie Flutter Foundation has already contributed $125,000 to cancer research and the numbers continue to grow. Valérie’s Flutter Foundation’s goal is to increase understanding of common and rare cancers, and the importance of raising funds for research.. With the values of hope and education at its core, Valérie’s Flutter Foundation is continuing to contribute to advancing cancer research.
