Overview

The UWA Coastal and Offshore Research Lab (CORL) is the only large-scale research facility in Australia that simultaneously supports both offshore and coastal engineering research from the surface to the seabed. These research areas are critical to the UWA Grand Challenge: “Sustainable Oceans and Coasts.” UWA-CORL offers a 1900m2 multi-purpose hydraulics laboratory space that is ideally suited for research and industry-led projects from the seabed to the surface, and from deep to shallow water. The lab space includes a 54-m-long wave flume with state-of-the-art wave generation for both offshore and coastal wave conditions, a 24-m-long, 1-m-wide O-Tube that can simulate currents over 3 m/s, and a 25-m-long constant flow flume. Our staff's expertise also includes the use of modern in-situ and remote-sensing (e.g., satellite-derived or drone-based) field survey techniques.
