Overview

The Nation’s earth science needs continue to evolve as new technologies emerge and our economy changes. Scientific agencies must keep pace and adopt new and innovative technologies in order to produce relevant and useful research. The USGS’s National Innovation Center (NIC) serves as the technological bridge, connecting USGS scientists with external technology partners from federal, state, and local agencies, as well as the non-profit, university, and private industry. Our partnership building capacity enables NIC to align mission goals across entities, best leveraging limited funding resources to maximize the scientific returns on cutting-edge technological investments. Our overarching mission is to foster and develop meaningful, inter-agency partnerships to best advance our science into the 21st century, creating new tools and capacity, bringing USGS science into the hands of every American.
