Overview

A strong curiosity of the Aran stitch structure and the stories behind their creativity knitted by women to drive an income throughout Ireland along with a massive interest in fashion and colour having worked on hotel interior projects and understanding that todays luxury customer is much more influenced by emotive experiences than possessions gave rise to Urban Aran. I love taking inspiring photographs of stitch structures and colour and sketching these ideas to form designs aroused by my nostalgic heritage. For me having extensive hands on luxury hotel and hospitality experience gave me a fine tuned empathy of premium customer expectations. A reflection of the combined passion for colour, sustainable fibres, and respected time honoured stitch structures mixed with a hands on knowledge of the discerning premium visitor has given me the expertise to produce natural respected yarns in edgy designs made to make memories. At Urban Aran our core commercial range creates bespoke designs specifically to compliment and enhance the overall design brief. Our hotel collection while consistently creating a polished finish also considers it’s commercial responsibility of durability, frequent wash care and stylish design. We are inspired by heritage hand made techniques, a structured silhouette to give chic simplicity with silk like finishes. In our home and garment ware we weave our Irish heritage back in but experiment in that nostalgia in an almost bohemian romanticism mixing stitch structures with street culture colour stories. We nomadically roam walls of backstreets and derelict buildings inspired by broad bold brush strokes and quirky street statements of urban Ireland. We honour historical stitch structures while we fuse street artwork colour stories to create an eclectic vibe in beautiful fabrics made slow, made consciously and made to last. Time honoured traditions meets current design.
