Overview

University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) is a private university established by the Catholic Archdiocese of Gulu. The USHG is established to contribute to addressing the needs for healing, reconciliation, moral integrity, and development of the population of Uganda and in the world. The University was granted Provisional License in July 2016 by the National Council for Higher Education with its first programs being run in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The University has established a Faculty of Management Science(FAMS) where it intends to run business and management programs. 3.2 USHG Mission The mission of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) is to contribute to personal and social healing, growth and holistic development of Uganda and the world community through provision of quality education, training and research and community outreach. 3.3 USHG Vision The vision is to be center of excellence producing high calibre human resources rooted in catholic values to address the needs of society; to be a university of choice and an engaging center of quality teaching, learning, research, transformative community service and educative consultancy. 3.4 USHG Core Values The core values of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu are: i. Compassion ii. Integrity iii. Pursuit of knowledge, academic excellence, and academic independence iv. Transparency and Accountability v. Societal focus vi. Protection of environment 3.5 USHG Motto The motto of the University of the Sacred Heart - Gulu is “Health of mind, heart, and body for integral development” 3.6 USHG Strategic Objectives The Strategic Objectives of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu, among others, are: 1 - To contribute more effectively to addressing the needs for faster and more meaningful healing, reconciliation, moral integrity, rebuilding and changing the lives of the people in Northern Uganda, Uganda at large, and beyond; 2 - To contribute and promote quality higher education
