Overview
As a Global Centre of Excellence and Innovation, UN-Habitat endeavours for seamless translation of normative work into transformative programs, interwoven with ground-up lessons from field directing cutting-edge innovative outcomes of the future. We advocate evidence-based sustainable solutions through demonstration pilots to influence networks of partners, including local authorities and policymakers for implementing scalable and locally adapted outcomes. UN-Habitat adopts a people-centric approach to bring synergies in urban policy and planning instruments to refine urban development and design frameworks that lead to spatially strategic capital investment projects for sustainable, resilient, safe and inclusive urban future, ensuring that no one and no place is left behind. UN-Habitat has been working closely with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India for championing India’s New Urban Agenda and has crafted a new strategic partnership with the Government of India on mutually agreed technical cooperation initiatives in support of sustainable urbanization in India. It is focused on assisting and supporting the contextualized achievement of urban related SDGs locally, and helping governments at various levels to apply the normative standards of the New Urban Agenda.
