Hello and welcome to the world of the Great White Shark. I am a White Shark behaviorist and field specialist. Below is some information on me. From 1990 to 1992 I was operations field officer for The Shark Centre, SA Natural History Museum. 1993 to 1994 I was Senior Operations Officer for the White Shark Research Unit, Shark Centre. 1995 to 1997 I was Director of, The South African White Shark Research Institute. 1998 to 2005 I was the Director of White Shark Projects. 2008 onwards I am the Director of White Shark Africa. I was the first person to ever attach a camera onto a free swimming Great White shark while filming a BBC Wild Life on One special. Also the first person to take blood from free swimming White sharks. First person to live capture White sharks without inflicting any injury and the first person to write a paper on Population Dynamics of White Sharks along the Southern African coastline. I discovered avoidance behavior in White sharks, colour variation and a number of other cognitive behaviors. I am a pioneer in free diving with White sharks and undertook the first human – White shark out of cage experiments to learn White shark attack on humans. I was team leader on three international White shark research expeditions. Including an expedition for The History Channel off Mexico. I have featured on National Geographic, Discovery Chanel, BBC, Pro 7, ZDF and dozens of other documentaries. I co-wrote three shows for Discovery Chanel. The Submarine, In search of The Giants and Shark Family. I have lectured at the Universities of Cape Town, London, Cambridge, Oxford and Stockholm. In 1998 I was guest of honour and speaker at The Royal Geographic Society, which was a massive recognition of my work. I have worked with Ace of Base, Nicholas Cage, Sam Elliot. Kelly Slater, Michael Phelps and in a few months’ time I will be working with Zac Effron. I also worked with the founders of Google, Ryan Roxie, and then I have worked with many other celebrities.
