DifferenceMaker is a flagship program of the University of Massachusetts Lowell USA that has been successfully running for the past eight years in assisting students to start sustainable new ventures that solve society's problems. Since 2012, approximately 15 new ventures per year have been launched with the program’s mentorship and seed fundings. Under the leadership of Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Ph.D., ULAB has signed an agreement with UMass Lowell. We will be able to use their carefully designed materials, along with our ones, and cater to our students' needs. Students from any discipline will get an opportunity to be engaged in innovative thinking and initiate new ventures. Internal and external experts will guide our students from the ideation stage till the commercialization stage. ULAB DifferenceMaker is a campus-wide entrepreneur program/competition which engages undergraduate students through creative problem solving, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Through creative problem solving, students are enabled to pursue their ideas, focus on having a positive impact on the world. Students will receive training, mentorship, technical support, and the top three participants will receive seed funds (Winner: 70,000 BDT, 1st Runner-Up: 50,000 BDT, and 2nd Runner-Up: 30,000 BDT). All the participating students will also receive a Certificate. This will be a great launching pad for many of our students who are thinking about the Entrepreneurship route. Students who are considering a traditional career path will also benefit from the experience, as all graduates of the program will possess an entrepreneurial mindset and be better problem-solvers.
