The Übersee-Club is a "space for the future”: Since its founding more than 100 years ago, interrupted only by the Nazi era, we have provided a platform for discourse between business, politics, culture and science. We are one of the major, indispensable centers for the exchange of views among democrats in Hamburg, the second largest metropolis in Germany. Outstanding minds, who are regarded as pioneers of their time, devote themselves here to the big questions of the present and future in lectures and discussions. Since 1970, the Amsinck House at the Inner Alster has been our home. Here we give our guest speakers the freedom to share their thoughts on how the world will develop in the future. Doing that we are continuing the idea of the “Sprechsaal” (speech hall) as described by the banker Max M. Warburg in his founding speech in 1922.
