Overview

Production of sustainable animal fodder based on Typha and desert dates (Balanites aegyptiaca). Formulation patented by the African Intellectual Property Office (OAPI). Our model is replicable in other Sahelian countries and is based on the following two modules • Sustainable animal feed production in Rosso, Mauritania, on the bank of the Senegal River producing 30,000 tons/year. Typha, the main ingredient, is an invasive plant that constitutes an environmental scourge that invades the banks of the Senegal River, promotes waterborne diseases, prevents access to water and ruins small-scale fishing. • Agro-Forest of 400 ha managed by a women's cooperative in the Brakna region with the aim of conserving, restoring and valorizing non-timber forest products, notably the desert date (Fruit of the tree Balanites aegyptiaca), the second main ingredient of our animal fodder formula.
