Transmission Films is a leading independent film distributor bringing the best local and international films to Australian and New Zealand audiences. Joint Managing Directors Richard Payten and Andrew Mackie launched Transmission in 2008 in partnership with Paramount Pictures Australia. The two distributors collaborate on acquisitions with Transmission overseeing the creative marketing and Paramount bringing their muscle and expertise to all stages of the release. The strength of a major with the focus of an independent – truly the best of both worlds. Richard and Andrew’s 18 year partnership has seen them release over 130 films and generate over $260 million at the box office. The films they have acquired and distributed have won 5 Palme d’Ors, been nominated for 42 Academy Awards and received over two hundred Australian Film Institute nominations. These films include The King’s Speech, Beneath Hill 60, Boy, Samson & Delilah, An Education, Control, The White Ribbon, Charlie & Boots, Antichrist, The World’s Fastest Indian, Good Night and Good Luck, Volver, Romulus My Father, Lost Highway, Secrets & Lies, Super Size Me, Swimming Pool, Dead Man and Rabbit Proof Fence. The pair have worked with some of the best filmmakers from around the world and in Australia including Pedro Almodóvar, David Lynch, Ken Loach, Mike Leigh, Woody Allen, Andrea Arnold, Philip Noyce, Lars von Trier, François Ozon, Roger Donaldson, Robert Connolly, Baz Luhrmann, Warwick Thornton and Tom Hooper.
