Overview

Completed Interreg Central Europe project (2019-2022) on stimulating the uptake of #precisionagriculture in Europe. Projects may end but #cooperationiscentral and continues. If the central European farming sector wants to keep up with latest trends, it needs more cooperation and anticipation of industrial market changes. The precision farming sector is an integral part of Industry 4.0. However, it is also in desperate need of more networks to overcome its traditional “local-based” knowledge approach that actually limits its competitiveness. The Transfarm 4.0 project changed this traditional approach to technology transfer in agriculture into a wider transnational open innovation environment. It aimed to enable companies, clusters, R&D performers and farmers to improve regional industrial specialisations. The project focused on three joint industrial domains: a new ISOBUS application, remote and proximal sensing, and big and smart data management. Pools of engineers and R&D performers tested innovative tech-try-outs in model farms making them more competitive and fit for the future trends.
