Overview

TO&FROM is a London based design studio founded in 2016 by interior designer Somya Singh, originally from India, and product designer Bob de Graaf, from the Netherlands. Both designers came to the UK to practice in the design field, Somya studied at Glasgow school of arts and Bob at The Design Academy Eindhoven, and both settled into work in London. In their individual careers, they have designed furniture, interiors and exhibitions, and worked for global names like Ilse Crawford, Anoushka Hemple and IKEA. TO&FROM presents homeware pieces that blur the lines between sculpture and practicality, with each item reflecting a unique journey and individual personality. Their key ranges to date include a collection of marble platters and pedestals, immediately selected by Ilse Crawford for a special portfolio of pieces at the Tate Modern; a jug in copper that was designed to offer an ergonomic set of proportions that was also inspired by the human form itself; and a set of textiles inspired by a Sufi festival attended by the duo and friends in Nagore India. With an emphasis on collaboration, the Sufi textiles collection was designed with The Printed Peanut, following a design tour to pick up inspiration/explore ideas. Further collaborations remain in the duo’s sights, with recent work styling the green room at the BBC, and an upcoming residential project in West London.
