Overview

In a virtual age of blurred lines and fuzzy truths, a desire arises for tangible ideas. Palpability of evidence is critical. We are in search of stable ground. It is thus, with great excitement, that we introduce you to POSIT: a yearly collection of architecture and design submissions curated by students at Syracuse University School of Architecture. POSIT strives to impose intellectuality on prevalent digital mediums and provide students with an accessible platform for critical engagement with architecture, research, and design. POSIT seeks, above all, to expand the lifetime of theses and debated topics by continually bringing new perspectives and creative mediums to the conversation. Its unique online format places related written works, images, videos, animations, collages, GIFs, interviews and more within a stack of a designated topic that is continually updated with new material throughout the year. Submissions may appear within various stacks, or be specific to one in particular. The result is a curated digital matrix that embodies both the uneasy expansiveness of the contemporary discipline as well as its rigid specificity. We posit that by providing this digital pool of material, we can spur enthusiasm, conversation and debate surrounding the academic exploration of architecture, in hopes of finding solid foundations on which to stand.
