Theatresauce is a new collective founded to exhilarate and engage urban Malaysians through edgy works of theatre. We see our local stages as transcendental spaces that are both personal and communal. What it needs are contemporary narratives that dig deep into our darkest of fears, most insane of ideas and the wildest of aspirations. These stories do not only confront our distant past as Malaysians, but challenge us to imagine and work toward a future we want to live in. Our directors and playwrights are crucial starting points to the creative process. Together they reflect our pursuit of diversity with regard to backgrounds, geographical locations, viewpoints and styles. Recognizing the need for a steady influx of working directors and playwrights in the local theatre landscape, we nurture new voices through long and short-term development programs. Theatresauce is driven by the interrogative, collaborative and innovative spirit of Malaysian English-language theatre from the 80s and 90s. The difference? We speak the language of 2016.
