The Trentham Estate

Overview

The Trentham Estate is one of the country’s top visitor attractions. Comprising 725 acres it includes one of the most beautifully restored Gardens and Parkland in the country, coupled to a major commercial centre including a large Garden Centre and Shopping Village together with other visitor attractions including Trentham Monkey Forest and Trentham Treetops Adventures. Trentham attracts over 3.75m visitors each year, with more than 800,000 pa paying to enter the fabulous Trentham Gardens. Trentham Estate lies adjacent to the main A34 trunk road and approximately 2.5 miles from J15 of the M6 Motorway. It is near to Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. The Trentham Estate is the remnants of one of England’s great garden estates, owned for over 400 years until 1979 by the Dukes of Sutherland, who last lived there until c.1910 when Trentham Hall was demolished. The Sutherland family ran the Estate as Trentham Gardens Pleasure Park and Gardens from c.1920 but during the 1970’s and ‘80’s through changes of ownership it went through a period of severe decline. It is very well known throughout the area and further afield and is particularly famous for the large Italian Gardens designed by Sir Charles Barry in the 1830’s. Trentham Leisure Ltd is part of the St. Modwen group.
