Overview

The Shepherd's Center of Greater Winston-Salem is an interfaith ministry that promotes and supports successful aging by providing direct services, volunteer opportunities, and enrichment programs for older adults. A volunteer-centered agency, Shepherd Center volunteers could: • Provide free labor for minor home repairs such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and various types of yard work in an older adult’s home. OR • Provide 1-2 hours per week to visit a homebound older adult or to give the primary caregiver of a homebound older adult some time off. OR • Provide transportation for older adults to medical appointments or shopping at a local grocery store in Winston-Salem. OR • Staff a booth at local health and information fairs to pass out information about the Shepherd’s Center and answer questions regarding the programs. OR • Assist with the setup and registration for our bi-annual event, Adventures in Learning, that takes place in the spring and fall. OR • Lead or assist students in our Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced Computer Classes for Seniors. OR • Lead or assist activities in our Active Seniors program. OR • Assist with our annual Book Sale setup, cashiering, book arrangement, and clean up after the event. OR lastly, • Answer the telephones and database entry for a variety of projects as well as assist with office tasks such as copying, mailings, and organization
