Overview

Ireland's leading independent publisher of books for readers of all ages, The O'Brien Press was founded in 1974, growing from a family printing company. We currently have over 700 titles in print across a wide range of interest areas, from fiction (mainly though our Brandon imprint) and non-fiction for adults to fiction for children. We are very active internationally, and our books are available in translation in over 50 languages worldwide, with over 500 live rights contracts. We attend the London, Bologna and Frankfurt bookfairs. Major authors we publish include (for children) Eoin Colfer, Marita Conlon-McKenna, Celine Kiernan, Conor Kostick and (for adults) Brendan O'Carroll, Paul Howard, Frank MacGuinness and many more. Our philosophy is to publish books that are of high quality and will stand the test of time, and our hard-working, dedicated team are all passionate about books and reading.
