Overview

The Kusasa Project South African Charitable Trust (IT53/2007), is a Public Benefit Organisation (930026072 ) that aspires to break the cycle of poverty and provide the country with a brighter future by engaging disadvantaged children at an early age to give them a great foundation for educational and human development. Our Early Learning Centre in the Cape Winelands is registered with the Department of Education and provides schooling for 130 black beneficiaries from ages 4-10 (in Grades 0-4). Our learners develop a love for learning whilst being encouraged to move into the future as capable, caring and fully contributing members of the world. We have an extensive support programme and offer health checks, therapy (occupational/speech/psychological), learning support, mentoring and social interventions with family members. Learners also receive two nutritious meals per day. In addition, parents and guardians participate in informative workshops that equip them with essential parenting skills. The Kusasa Project is managed by a board of trustees consisting of David Riordan, Doug Gurr and Margot Janse as well as a chief operating officer and is totally dependent on donations as we receive no governmental funding. We encourage international and local businesses as well as individuals to donate finances towards our general and administrative expenses, especially our salary bill. Our very skilled staff work in a challenging social and political environment with one overriding, guiding principle - it’s all about the kids! We welcome your support (tax-deductible donations).
