Overview

Justice is a complex and confusing labyrinth for most people that often only the privileged few enjoy. Many people who encounter the justice process either don’t understand how it works or can’t afford to pay for someone who does. This means that "getting justice" is more a storybook fantasy than a practical reality for most people. Yet justice—particularly human and civil rights—is central to living in a fair society. These rights include access to available information that people are entitled to. At The Kincade Society, we help people help themselves through acquiring information--which promotes fairness and justice. Information is crucial to the justice process, and important decisions with serious consequences are often based on available information. We support the public interest by providing assistance in obtaining records, information, and evidence relating to criminal justice issues, civil litigation and sanctions, and human and civil rights issues involving members of the public. Our members and volunteers--who have backgrounds in business, psychology, investigations, the law, organizational management, and other fields--dedicate their experience and knowledge in collecting relevant and actionable information to contribute to the public good. We believe people should have a fair shake at justice regardless of their status within society. The Kincade Society, as a registered 501(c)(3) organization, does not advocate specific resolutions to the issues that are raised through the information it helps acquire for the public interest and does not encourage others to do so. Our mission is to assist members of the public in obtaining information that concerns them and allow these individuals to make judgments on the issues related to that information.
