The Cheese Collective is on a joint mission to support British cheesemakers and UK food banks. We're an online cheesemonger that only sells award-winning British cheeses, and are partnered with The Trussell Trust to donate a food bank meal with every box Amid the pandemic, British cheesemakers lost the majority of their traditional routes to market overnight when the hospitality industry and artisan markets were shut down, most seeing about 70% decrease in projected sales. This resulted in a huge amount of waste, financial strain and some companies going out of business losing a wealth of experience from a highly skilled industry. In the same breath, reliance on foodbanks was at an unprecedented level. The Trussell Trust, the UK’s biggest foodbank network, reported an 89% increase in demand in May 2020 compared to April 2020, while the Independent Food Aid Network recorded a 175% increase over the same period. The Cheese Collective was created to try and ease the pain for both parties. We support British cheesemakers by only selling award-winning small batch artisan British cheese, connect cheese lovers with British cheesemakers to understand their story, and support UK food banks by partnering with The Trussell Trust. For every box sold we donate a food bank meal to The Trussell Trust, and donated over 5,500 meals in 2021 alone.
