Overview

Established in 2012 as a joint effort of the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh and the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Greater Pittsburgh, the Center for Women provides supportive services to women during life transitions. Women in transition are those of us who, by choice or by circumstance, are forging lives of our own and need help navigating critical issues—from understanding taxes and establishing credit to making sense of social security and finding school loans—on the way to economic independence. Whether you are returning to the workforce after a job loss, have recently lost a partner or are going through a divorce, we are here for you. Center for Women’s services include, but are not limited to: •Mentoring – Each woman enrolled in our yearlong mentoring program is matched and provided with guidance and support by a professional woman to help build confidence and necessary skills for their next personal endeavor. •Internships – In partnership with area companies, Center for Women connects women with unpaid internship opportunities which provide hands-on experience and relevant knowledge during the pursuit of workforce reentry. •Financial Education – Our finance programs help to provide women with the knowledge they need to manage family finances, from managing a checkbook and budgeting to investing and planning for retirement. Individual Financial Check-Ups are available as well as Financial Coaching for 3-6 months based on a woman's individual need. The Center for Women supports women in need throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area, regardless of faith, socioeconomic status or background. If you want to get back on your feet and get on the path to self-improvement, we are here for you!
