Overview

It was with one of my old colleagues and he was describing his recent onboarding experience with a medium sized business and short of it was... A very unpleasant and draining start to the role. - His first week, he was still filling in HR paper forms, - None of his tech was available on his first day, and - He had to reach out to each of his team members himself. He now has doubts and is questioning whether he has made the right choice to leave his comfy job and he feels conflicted now. All of this could be avoided if the company engaged TBB and we built the Onboarding for Success program into their employee onboarding process. This is a beginners course and doesn't require any pre-existing skills. Now I know his story wasn't unique and we have all had these sort of onboarding experiences including: - Colleague's not knowing you are now in their team. - Not seeing your manager for the whole first week. - Managing your own tasks and goals in the first month. Roles can take weeks and months to fill and to get a poor onboarding experience could turn a great hire into a nightmare. My Onboarding for Success Manifesto 1. Everyone deserves an AMAZING employee onboarding experience. 2. Every manager/HR team should have a standardised process. 3. Software achieves this but shouldn't be continuous $$$. 4. These checklists or workflows can be developed and improved. 5. Innovation should come from within the company. Soooooo....
