Overview

The Buckley School is a K-9 all boys private school in Manhattan. Founded in 1913 by B. Lord Buckley, the School has a history of upholding our motto, Honor Et Veritas. The bonding among boys, the collegiality among faculty and the respect between student and teacher combine to create an atmosphere at Buckley where learning and growth occur both in and beyond the classroom. The School strives to educate the whole boy, foster a lifelong love of learning and develop personal integrity and respect for others. Buckley provides a traditional, yet innovative, curriculum from kindergarten, Beginners, through ninth grade. Students are engaged in small group learning that encourages energetic communication and confident expression. In addition to a rigorous academic program, which includes six major subjects, two foreign languages and computer classes, every student participates in public speaking, studio art, crafts, music, physical education, stage productions, and above all, each student is encouraged to be kind, helpful and respectful of one another. In the Middle and Upper Schools, students take on leadership roles and are regularly required to work as a team. Our strong sense of community extends to the parents, who enjoy events such as the Family Skating Party, the Book Fair, the Used Clothing Sale, the Mother-Son Heritage Lunch and the Father-Son camp day. Buckley welcomes and encourages parent participation for many school activities, and the Parents and Fathers Committees meet together regularly, as well as with the Headmaster. Communication is important and the faculty maintain a close relationship with parents regarding the boys' academic, personal and social development. Years after graduation, Buckley alumni continue to express a strong connection with the School and the friendships made there. Many are involved as parents, trustees and Alumni Council members. Our community is enhanced by their continued support and involvement.
