Overview

"YOUR JOB IS YOUR CHOREOGRAPHY, ALL THE REST IS YOUR ADLIB." Before its establishment, The Addlib originated from Sunday dance classes led by its founder, Joe Abuda who simply wanted a weekend diversion from his regular work as a writer. He organized classes whose primary target market were people who, like him, have day jobs. The success of the classes created a new set of friendships among regular attendees, which eventually gave birth to the idea of creating a new underground dance crew composed of people who have regular commitments like school or day jobs; people who were, at one point in their lives, forced to make a choice between building a career and following their passion for dance. "ADD LIBERTY. ADD LIFE." In October 14, 2008, The Addlib, with the asterisk (*) as their official insignia, was established with the initial goal of competing at the annual World Hip Hop Championships in the USA. With zero financial support, the group had to start from scratch--training and rehearsing along empty streets, outside convenient stores, or anywhere with a free mirror. Slowly, they worked their way through the tough entertainment industry and built a name for their own; making The Addlib one of the most sought-after dance companies in the Philippines. In September 28, 2018, ten years after their establishment, The Addlib opened their own home, The Addlib Dance Studio. Then the following month, they headlined their major concert, celebrating their ten years, at the New Frontier Theater where all past and present members performed together.
